Safeguarding
Children's Safety and Safeguarding Principles
Children's safety and dignity come first in everything we do.
Respect for children's rights
We are guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Latvia's Law on the Protection of the Rights of the Child.
Children's dignity
Every child is treated with respect, kindness and fairness.
Safe participation
Activities are planned with appropriate supervision, safety equipment and risk awareness — for example life vests and safety briefings on the water.
Appropriate adult conduct
Adults never place themselves in situations of unsupervised one-to-one contact that could put a child at risk.
Privacy and confidentiality
Information about children is shared only on a need-to-know basis.
Responsible photography
Photographs of children are taken and published only with parental consent, and never with identifying details beyond what is necessary.
Parental consent
Parents or guardians give consent for participation, photography and any sharing of information.
Safe communication
Communication with children takes place through or with the knowledge of their parents.
Reporting concerns
Any concern should be raised with the association's board at support@lehmijarvi.org and, where a child may be at risk, with the State Police or the local Orphan's and Custody Court (bāriņtiesa).
Responsible community participation
Volunteers and partners are expected to share these principles.
